Stepping Into the Unknown
So much has been happening in my life over the last few months, and now I finally feel like I can talk about it with you.
I’ve had this incredible opportunity to start my own business. It’s something I’ve wanted for a long time — something I’ve thought about, dreamed about, and always wondered if I could really do. Before the summer I realized the timing was right, the stars were aligning, and I was in the right position to step into this unknown, exciting phase of my life.
And in the spirit of transparency, I want to tell you honestly how it unfolded, what I’ve been doing, and where I’m heading next.
When One Door Closed
Back in May/June, I was working in TGS in the operations department. After a merger and yet another reorganization, the new leader announced more changes. I’ve been through a lot of reorganizations over the last ten years, and this time, I fell through the cracks. I was offered a severance agreement.
It hits you in waves — much like a breakup. I thought, we had something good here, I was doing great work, what happened? The truth is, I was doing well and delivering strong results. But sometimes there just isn’t a space for you anymore. It’s about business models, not personal performance.
I realized I’d essentially been doing the role of an in-house consultant for the past couple of years anyway. And with this more Americanized model of keeping organizations lean and pulling in expertise as needed, it hit me: I could embrace that. I could be that flexible capacity. I could be the consultant they call in when they need me, and release when they don’t.
That was the spark.
Turning Change Into Opportunity
I leave on good terms, with happy clients inside TGS and the hope of collaborating again in the future. And I saw this as a chance to keep doing exactly what I love. Helping leaders and teams navigate change, align quickly, and make work fun and productive again, now, for more people, in more places.
My plan is to build a business around that. The thing I’m good at. The thing I know makes a difference.
And while I’ve been wrapping up my notice period, I’ve been given one final project: organizing and leading a team retreat in October. I’m documenting the whole process so you can see how I do what I do. (I’ll share a full case study afterwards — I want this blog to continue to be a space where I show my work, not just talk about it.)
On top of that, I’ve also been supporting my husband, who’s starting his own business this autumn too. The timing might look “not ideal” on paper, but in reality, it’s been perfect. We’re learning side by side, supporting each other, complementing each other’s strengths.
The Emotional Ride
I won’t sugarcoat it: it’s been a rollercoaster. From excitement to rejection, from high motivation to exhaustion. I even took the summer completely off to reset, because sometimes you need to quiet your brain before you can rebuild.
But I’m not worried. Maybe that’s foolish, but I know what I can deliver, and I know it’s needed. Now it’s about focus: making the business real, quickly and efficiently.
This autumn is a big build-up phase. I’ve been invited onto Jason Liem’s podcast “It’s an Inside Job” (airing October 20th), where I’ll talk about the theory behind what I do — why I do it, and the difference it makes. That conversation will go deeper into my method and approach.
What I Actually Do
If you’re wondering what “this business” really means:
I partner with leaders who are managing teams through tough transitions like reorganizations or mergers.
I design and facilitate workshops and sprints that help teams quickly align, build trust, and move forward with clarity.
The result? Leaders gain credibility and relief, teams gain collaboration and cohesion, and the whole business benefits from fewer mistakes, more efficiency, and more joy at work.
At the heart of it, my work is about connection, direction, and momentum.
Life in the Middle of It All
Of course, all of this is happening alongside daily life. We’re mid-kitchen renovation, camping in the living room with my husband and four-year-old daughter. There’s a lot of barbecuing going on! Honestly, it reminds me of my childhood camping days — a good reminder of how little we really need. It grounds me.
I’m also learning every day about what it takes to build a business — branding, marketing, all the behind-the-scenes work. It’s a lot, but it’s energizing. And it means you’ll be seeing more of me here as I share my learnings, my mistakes, my wins, and hopefully some inspiration for you too.
What’s Next
I’m going all in. No holding back. This will work because I know what I’ve got is valuable, and I know how much leaders and teams need it.
If you’re in Oslo, I’d love to connect. If you know someone in the world who might benefit from what I do, put them in touch. Or just say hi — I love encouragement, and I’m cheering for you too.
This is the start of a new chapter. I’ll share more after the October retreat, and I can’t wait to bring you along for the ride.
